Governing AI: Implementing the EU AI Act in Gambling
The European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) took effect in 2018, and today more than 80 jurisdictions globally have put similar laws in place. With the EU passing the AI Act last year, and several US states looking to follow. AI governance is on the agenda for regulators across the globe, and with a particular focus on the risks and applications of its use in restricted industries like gambling. As global operators increasingly rely on its use to scale, anticipate future outcomes and understand player behaviour, this session will focus on the implications of the EU AI Act for the global gaming industry, as well as the lessons applicable to key jurisdictions assigned to translate these into their already complex, increasingly fragmented markets. Delegates will gain an understanding of:
• The new burden of compliance on operators, providers and developers, what should they expect next?
• Industry sandboxes and what gaming regulators can do to address the skills gaps in assigned relevant national authorities.
• Risk-based approaches to implementation in Spain, France and Germany.
