Karen Marcela Sierra-Hughes is a Panamanian attorney with a Master’s in Commercial Law and Specialization in Public Law.

Before joining GLI in 2004, she practiced law in the Republic of Panama and was later appointed as Legal Director of the Panama Gaming Control Board.

She has vast experience in the gaming, sports betting and lottery sectors, and over her 20 years at GLI, she has been driving its regional strategy for both regulatory and business development as well as managing GLI´s service delivery for operators and suppliers throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain.

She has had a protagonist role in the evolution of the Latin America and Caribbean industry, while propelling a vision of a duly regulated transformation that is aligned with international best practices.

Sierra-Hughes received Latin American Gaming Hall of Fame’s prestigious Recognition Award at the 2019 Juegos Miami gaming conference and was listed in the 2019 iGaming Business Magazine´s 10 Most Influential Women List and the 2023 Hot 50 Gaming Intelligence publication.
